Mazu's story
Mazu II, a Sinek 43 is a custom design by Vancouver based naval architect John Simpson, and professionally built by Sinek Boatbuilders in Graham, WA USA who specialized in aluminum boat construction. Aluminum is considered by many to be the ultimate material for this type of boat due to its incredible strength and light weight. High quality marine grade aluminum (5086) was used throughout, and her hull is as good as new.

History

Mazu’s first owners commissioned the design and had her built in WA, USA in the late 90’s. Named Liza Jane she was transported to Wisconsin and traveled through the Great Lakes and waterways to the eastern seaboard of the USA and on to Florida. She did some cruising to the Bahamas before being put
up for sale.

The second owners had her transported back to the west coast of Canada, and renamed her Maclas. They sailed in the Pacific North West and later sailed down to the Sea of Cortez in Mexico, where once again she was put up for sale.

We bought her in 2014 and renamed her Mazu II (after the Chinese goddess, protector of sailors and fishermen) We sailed her from La Paz to San Carlos, Mexico. From here she traveled by trailer back to British Columbia Canada, where she underwent upgrades in 2015-2017.

We did a circumnavigation of Vancouver Island, and then set sail in 2017 from the west coast of Canada and sailed to New Zealand via Mexico and the beautiful islands of the South Pacific (French Polynesia, Tonga, and Fiji). In February 2019 she was hauled out of the water and is now stored ashore in a secure boatyard in Whangarei, New Zealand. (Delivery negotiable)
